On the 10th January 2017, prior to the UN World Data Forum, Stefan Schweinfest, Director of the Statistics Division, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, briefed the media at the Spokesperson’s noon briefing as well as a WebEx briefing with UNICs in Pretoria, Lusaka and Nairobi. The inaugural UN World Data Forum is set to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on 15-18 January.

More than 1,000 data leaders from government, business, science and civil society to collaborate on challenges and initiatives at Forum, opening 15 January in Cape Town
The first UN World Data Forum will be hosted by Statistics South Africa from 15 to 18 January 2017, with support from the Statistics Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, under the guidance of the United Nations Statistical Commission and the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
