UN World Data Forum – Press Briefing Sessions

On the 10th January 2017, prior to the UN World Data Forum, Stefan Schweinfest, Director of the Statistics Division, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, briefed the media at the Spokesperson’s noon briefing as well as a WebEx briefing with UNICs in Pretoria, Lusaka and Nairobi.  The inaugural UN World Data Forum is set to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on 15-18 January.

The Forum, nosted by the Government of South Africa and Statistics South Africa, with support from the Statistics Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), will be a unique opportunity for major producers and users of data and statistics to collaborate in launching new initiatives and innovative solutions that will deliver better data on health, education, income, environmental indicators and other aspects of sustainable development.
